The Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) was founded in 1934 as a voluntary association of members practicing anaesthesia throughout Australia: it continues to this day to represent all of Australia’s anaesthetists. The ASA needed a website upgrade that would allow them to communicate more effectively with their growing membership base, receive online membership payments and a new design that would reflect the professional, progressive approach of the association.
What they were looking for
It was important for the ASA that the new site would allow them to promote the educational aspects of the association while also giving viewers an insight into the history of the organisation. The site needed to communicate with patients of anesthesia as well as doctors and the association's membership base. The site had to be able to communicate upcoming events, industry announcements and professional issues such as changes to medical regulations.
Design
The design needed to appeal to the association's professional audience while also being easy to navigate and update. It was vital that users were able to easily locate the information they were after despite the significant volume of content on the website. The use of random serving of promotions and content as well as highlighting notable content on the homepage allows the site administrators to promote different sections of and direct traffic to desired sections of their large website.

We were looking for a website that not only looked great but that was versatile, modern and easy to use. We wanted to be able to make changes to all aspects of the site including design (keeping within the template) and content. Having password protected sections allowing our members to make payments and renewals was critical for us as was an events section that allowed us to easily promote our events.
