Import an email marketing list into the Email Campaign Manager (ECM)

To import a list into the ECM we find that the best approach is to:

  • Export an existing list by clicking on 'Manage lists' in the menu then 'Export' for any of the lists. This will give you the structure and file format understood by the system.
  • Add your desired records to the exported list (editing in Excel is fine)
  • You can then import this list back either into an existing list by clicking on 'Edit' for the desired list and using the 'Import into list' field and clicking 'Save' or into a new list by entering a name for the new list selecting the file and clicking 'Add'

 

Some things to look out for that cause errors:

  • The email field may not contain any spaces, including leading and trailing spaces. An easy way to ensure there are none is to select the column in Excel and use Find/Replace to find all ' ' (single space character) and replace with nothing.
  • The 'Enable Email' and 'HTML enabled' fields can only be either 1 or 0.
