Remove an account from your email marketing activity

The best way to ensure an account does not receive email from the system is to add them to the 'Default suppression list' in the ECM. Whenever an email is sent this list is checked and if an account appears on that list it is automatically omitted from the send, irrespective of any other setting on their account.

To add an account to the 'Default suppression list' you can:

1. Locate the account in the 'Accounts Manager' (by searching for their email address for example) and click on 'Edit' link
2. Scroll down to the 'Manage account email lists' section and check the 'Default suppression list' checkbox and click 'Save'

An alternative method is to use list import in the 'Email Manager' module by importing a pre-prepared list of accounts to unsubscribe in the ECM import format and import these into the 'Default suppression list'.
1. Click on 'Manage lists' in the 'Email Manager' and click the 'Edit' link for the 'Default suppression list'
2. Select the pre-prepared file in the 'Import into list' file field and click on 'Save'

Please note this operation takes a while for each account, so if you have a lot of accounts in the imported file it's likely that your browser session will time out and you will receive a superfluous 'Application Error' message. This just means it's taken too long for the server to process your request. If that happens the best thing to do is to wait 30-60 minutes and then check one or two of the accounts to see if they have been successfully added to the 'Default suppression list' before trying to do the import again.
